HYBRID SOLAR SYSTEM

Ameco Solar is the first company in the Los Angeles and North Orange County area to offer the latest in solar technology – the solar “hybrid” system called EchoTM. The EchoTM solar system produces twice the amount of energy as a basic solar PV system.

With the EchoTM hybrid solar system, one solar system will generate all of the following:

• Electricity
• Hot water
• Air heating and cooling

Hybrid Solar System Information

EchoFirst is the first company to create a hybrid solar system. Their system , the EchoTM, functions as a solar energy system as well as a solar thermal system.

The system uses basic solar PV panels to generate electricity, but are installed in such a way to capture previously untapped thermal energy (heat) created by the sun. Basic PV systems only capture a narrow spectrum of the sun’s energy, using only about 15% of it to create electricity. The remaining heat energy goes unused.

EchoFirst decided to harness that remaining heat and use it towards other applications. Instead of 15%, the Echo captures 50% of the sun’s energy. Normal solar PV panels create electricity, heat is captured beneath the panels, circulated into the home, and used to heat water, heat and cool the air, and provide filtered air ventilation. All in all, the system will get the average energy user twice the amount of energy they would otherwise get from a basic PV system.
