Solar Electric Sizing Sheets

The sizing sheets below are not for sizing utility connected residential solar systems.
The formulas are useful for sizing solar systems where secondary power sources are unavailable or impractical.

To begin sizing a basic solar electrical system, your first step is to figure out how much power you need. By adding up your loads and the number of hours the loads will operate you can determine the amount of power required. The next step is to figure out how many batteries are required to store and provide the power you need to run the loads. Then the next step is to determine how many solar panels it will take to keep the batteries charged.

By completing the worksheets below you can size your own solar electrical system.
